While we haven’t all been experiencing the winter we were initially expecting, chances are if you live in the West, you’ve seen something ridiculous.
Reports coming out of the Sierra claim snowfall totals of around 10 feet of snow in the last 7 days, numerous resorts have been forced to close, and even a “Snow Emergency” in Tahoe has been declared. While we haven’t seen quite the astonishing amounts of snow in the Pacific Northwest, we’ve still seen our fair share of epic days. Mission Ridge’s 39″ in 24 hours on New Year’s Days began the craze, with Spokane area resorts finding 18″ of fresh to start off 2017, and the snowfall totals have only continued to climb as January progresses. While the Inland Northwest has seen sunshine and blue skies this week, Northern Idaho resorts are reporting around 2 feet of new snow for the weekend, so head East if you’re looking for the steep and deep.
With all the new snow, winter in the Northwest is turning into a legendary season. While we can’t all find that mythical 10 foot powder day (unless you live in the Sierra), there’s still plenty of time left to get out and play in the powder wonderland. For a quick mid-week pick-me up, check out the video below and get ready for an awesome weekend of powder skiing! This winter is what summer dreams are made of. It’s time to ski!
