Just a quick post because I’m getting ready for some night skiing at 49 Degrees North tonight (3 cans of food and $5, can’t beat that price), but here are what conditions are looking like at the local hills as we head into the weekend.
49 Degrees North – Blue skies and powder have been the story of the Chewelah-based mountain. After receiving almost a foot of snow a few days ago, the clouds have cleared up and the sun is shining, although Saturday and Sunday both show a chance of roughly an inch and a half of snow. Conditions are great and likely will continue to improve as we get further into the new year!
Mt. Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park – With a trace of snow in the last 24 hours, Mt. Spokane promises its guests powder stashes and smooth corduroy for the new year weekend. Night skiing is on every Wednesday through Saturday nights until March 11th!
Silver Mountain Resort – If you’ve followed Silver Mountain on social media at all, you know that this season is shaping up to be the best in years. 6″ of snow fell in the last 24 hours, and while the skies are partly cloudy, the sun has made a few appearances as the day has gone on. This weekend, expect 2″ to 4″ of new as we come into Sunday, so make the most of your last holiday weekend and explore some of Idaho’s best powder!
Lookout Pass – Lookout has seen 8″ of new snow in the last 24 hours, so expect lots of powder and smooth runs as you head down the slopes both today and throughout the weekend. The forecast calls for 3″ to 5″ of new snow on Sunday alone, with no sign of it stopping in the future, meaning that if you want to ski powder over the weekend, you want to ski Lookout Pass.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort – Schweitzer saw the least amount of new snow of the North Idaho resorts in the last 24 hours (3″ of new), but mostly sunny skies and the snowfall of the past week has kept conditions perfect! Temps are expected to drop significantly over the weekend, with minor snow accumulation following, but there’s still plenty to look forward to, with wine-tasting at Gourmandie and the 10 Barrel Brewing’s “Pray for Snow Party” at Taps. Check it out!
